Guys, my Sei Sporting was stolen and written off last May, and I'm still waiting for a decision on a payout. Should it really take this long?

The problem with my claim was that the keys went missing. I had no idea they'd fallen out my pocket until I left my mates house the next morning to go home. Was kinda like 'Dude, where's my car', then 'dude, where's my keys' before I realised what happened.

Obviously I was not a happy bunny, so I went for a walk with my mates to cool off, just incase I said something I shouldn't to the police. As 'luck' would have, I found it with all four wheels on the pavement, ontop of a tree. Strange thing was, the car was locked

Called the police (was 10 minutes after I'd woken and realised it'd gone missing), but they didn't come to the scene because I'd found it? Didn't understand that.

Anyway, since then, I've submitted 5 statements, not including the one I gave to the police over the phone. Now I personally think that's a bit of a joke but I'm in my first year of driving, so fair play.

I had one guy come round accusing me of staging the whole thing, saying it was such a coinscidence that 1) I lost the keys right next to the car, 2) That I acutally found the car and 3) It was locked! I've told them about 1000 times that I have 2 witness statements on my whereabouts that night also.

Instead, in October, they asked me for my crime reference number and said they'd get back to me. I called in november and they said it usually takes 40 days for te police to call back (baring in mind it was 45 when I called), called again the other day, they're still waiting for the police!

Before anyone starts, I understand I was an idiot to lose the keys. However, the car was locked and everything was shut, I'm 100% sure of that.

I just can't understand why it's taking so long. Can anyone else relate to this matter?

Really sorry for the long post!

Sorry to bring up an old post of mine, but I need some help

It's been 10 months since I first notified my insurance of my claim (details above) Every time I call them up they say they're still waiting on the police report, having called the police they said they couldnt access the information and said they would call me back...which never happened.

I really need to know if theres anything i can do except calling both my insurance company and the police constantly, because this has gone on for ages with no news.

Any advise would be very much appreciated.

Don't ring the police, go to the station and ask in person, you're not wasting police "time" as a crime was commited and you are the victim, sure you lost your keys but they could have easily been handed into a police station.

Write letters to your insurance firm, if they still take long write threatening letters of complaint. I don't know who you would report them to but maybe the threat will make them pull thier socks up and get on with it.

Sounds like they are "longin' you off"

Cheers guys. I'm just sick of the way Endsliegh have treated me since day one & thanks to them and their total lack of advise when needed, I've now got 2 claims against my name instead of the written off claim (this one)

Maybe it's just the person who's been dealing with both my incidents, but Endsliegh, although were the cheapest, have burnt me for life!

With the AA now on my dads as clearly can't afford insurance, they've been very helpful (Although £25 to change the number plate to a cherished one?!)

By the way, if they turn round and say they wont pay up, is there a way to dispute the decision?

yes by contacting the ombusman.

There is an Insurance Ombudsman and a society or something all compnies are a member of, they will sort you out.

Before though you could phone them up and refuse to get off the phone until you speak to a Manager etc and if they hang up just phone back, if you are too nicey nicey they will just fob you off.

Good luck.

Haven't been on for a long time because I still haven't sorted out my internet yet! But here's the update

Long & short of it is, well over a year later, I'm still waiting on a pay out. I've taken the very helpful advice from this thread and spoken to the local Ombudsman several times, the police and, dare I say it, my insurance company. The only way I've managed to get any response is by sending threatening letters that state facts, constantly telling them I've had to seek advice from the local Ombudsman, and calling every day until I get a different response from the usual 'we're still waiting on a police report'

I did get a response, the inevitable "we're not paying out, for the following reasons"...Unfortunately, my claims advisor had obviously not taken the time to actually read any of the 4 statements I’ve had to give, as there was nothing in her letter that was actually true; except the date of the incident. So having replied by concisely outlining every erroneous information in her decision (the whole thing), backed up with pictures too, I'm now waiting for another decision.

It's almost over, just not quite yet

To be continued...Again!

Ok guys, this is the last time this thread is going to be brought up again by me.

Insurance company have finally paid out, received the cheque and banked straight away. (y)

What an ordeal, but got there in the end. Learnt a hell of a lot!

blimey thats good news after all that faffing around I'm glad you got a desicion in your favour in th end...you should have claimed for all the phonecalls and time you had to waste.
