Technical Tailgate removal

Haven't done one but I'd leave all the original wiring in the scrap car boot door and just chop the wires at the boot hinge. Then before removing the old wiring loom from the donor door I'd attach stringcords to the connectors with labels so on the install you could pull your exisiting loom connectors down through the donor door internal channels.

Take lots of photos:)

Forgot

Will do pic's when I change it and put it on my car.

Opening the tailgate with no key, and battery disconnected was interesting, but nothing I couldn't do :D

Opened boot, removed rubber seal on tail of car to enable me to lower the rear of the roof lining. Then removed the wiring from clips, and followed it as far down the N/S 'D' pillar as possible before chopping it. Then fed it through the hole it enters the car through.

So I've a good 1meter of cableing and rear wash pipe to play with when I change it.

Before I remove the one currently on my car I'm going to remove the 'panneling' on it to see if the wiring loom has a 'plug' in the boot. If so I'll reuse my cars origional wiring if this makes sence?

All I know is that there was alot of wiring into the tailgate (alot more than on a classic Panda :p) including a Red and Black thick wire (looked like 17amp wiring).

I don't think there are any in line connectors and it's all just straight through from the hatch door components all the way to the body computer. That's why I'd attach cord to the old connectors before pulling the cabling out of the donor door

I'd guess the heavy gauge wiring is the heated rear screen, it carries a fair few amps
