General Tailgate remote opening

Hi Panda-istas.
2015 1.2. My tailgate used to open on the 'unlock' button remote; now it only opens if I use the specific 'boot unlock' button. Any thoughts as to why?

The boot release on the car operates a microswitch that makes the release motor/solenoid work - but only if the car is unlocked. Sounds like either that switch is faulty (common) or the wires to it are damaged. Pressing the ‘open boot’ button on the remote makes a direct connection to the release solenoid- and clearly that’s working.

We have this on our 2015 car and its a sign of the boot switch failing in the handle on ours, at least. I have power washed it and soaked it in WD40 and its returned to more normal. Although it still plays up. I do anticipate having to at least remove the handle and get it cleaned and replace the micro switch. It seems to be a combination of age, fine road dust and water. There is a great post on here showing how to replace the microswitch. Its a fiddle but only requires a couple of wires soldering and some time and mastic. The alternative is a new rear trim with the handle and they are over £140 new.

Thanks both. Fixed now, for how long no one knows! Removed trim, cleaned and squirted microswitch with switch cleaner. Clearly water gets in there, so I siliconed trim back in place. Fingers crossed!
