500 tail light and running light failure

Hello newbie here. I hope someone can help. I have a 2013 Pop. When I turn on my head lights the tail light just flickers and goes out and my running light goes out both on the drivers side. I changed the bulb in the tail light but it looked ok . I don't know how long this has been because I didn't know it until it came on my dash check stop lamp. I don't even know where to start on this to fix it

Hi the first thing id look at is where the wires go into the tailgate theyre known to break and short out causing all sorts of problems

Was it the tailgate wiring?
