Technical syphon petrol

I want to take out the petrol from my spare punto fuel tank. I tried cutting below the filter, to drain into petrol can, nothing but what was in the filter came out. If I have no option but to do the syphon lark, how is it best down without knocking yourself out woth petrol fumes?

Also how best drain the brake fluid out of the system?

Also what size spark plug socket. mk1 55s
