Please - has anyone got experience of the above?

On the overrun, i.e. with the engine de-accelerating - I can feel an unpleasant vibration, which feels wear related, transmitted through the pedals, the clutch particularly. It does not occur when depressing the clutch - or with the engine pulling in gear, or in neutral.

With my old worn engine - wear could be felt under load, and so I hope that - with the new engine showing 3 bar of oil pressure and symptoms on the overrun - this is not the cause.

I've checked the engine/gbox mounts which are fine, and there is no noise when making a tight turn - which from various posts - seems to be associated with driveshaft wear.

Any ideas or experience appreciated.

well i have the same problem
i came to a conclusion that it`s the gearbox
the part which the driveshaft goes into - sorry dunno what it means
that part runs on a bearing and its worn

still looking for a solution .......

what did they say about it making a noise when you turn right as i have this problem? i think its my cv joint but if it could be something else i would be greatful to know

not to sound thick as i know you put its drive shaft wear but what i mean is what sort of sound does it make? i only get it when on full right lock and it makes a loud clicking noise, also some times when i boot it off from the traffic lights it pulls like hell to one side but that only happens when you accelarate hard. it seem to be the n/s but the n/s drive shaft did take a knock when my engine dropped on that side cause the bolts holding the engine mount dropped out, lucky i was only going slow at time.

Gallio - Thanks and that's interesting you have the same problem. I think exactly the same as you- it pretty much feels like wear in the gearbox - related to the driveshaft input. I think I detect this slack when starting/stopping the engine as well and I'm going to see if I can feel if there is vibration from that area with someone starting/stopping the car.

I think the only answer is to swap the box - as this is getting worse fast. At 175k I wondered how long my original g/box would carry on after the engine died.

Jonboy - The only other thing that can make a noise on full lock in my view is the p/steering. Yours sounds - from the posts I have read -like a d/shaft.

My problem is silent - but I guess deadly in due course.

Jonti -
actually this my second gearbox in the 3 years i`ve owned this car
the first one started to moan all the time, so i had it replaced

i don`t think i can find a replacement that still in acceptable condition

i have the old gearbox in store, i`ll dig it out, rip it open :)
check out the bearings , if it`s replaceable
will take out the current box and fix it

if not, or the parts is not available .......... dunno actually

another thing, mine tend do some shaking from time to time when the car first moves at a red light or from a parking spot,
today i was checking something at the front side, the short drive shaft side, i had the wheel removed and started the car put it in gear ....
the driveshaft at the gearbox side was spinning un-evenly, i stopped the car and there was a obvious free-play from the part that holds the shaft inside the box, when moving the shaft with hand it shows what i suspected, a very worn bearing.

again, this is driving me crazy
if anyone have a solution ,,, please help ...

Hmm thats interesting, i'll take the wheel off at the weekend and see what I can find. Is yours worst in 2nd gear? And otherwise does your gearbox work fine?

If you take it apart and find the worn component it would be interesting to see a picture.

Occasionally there are used gearboxes on Ebay in the UK, the last one I saw I nearly bought as a spare, but sadly I didn't.

I presume your new gearbox was 2nd hand? Another option is getting boxes repaired but I have heard this is not always successful, presumably as many other things are all wearing out too...

sure, second gear is getting really bad, the gear knob vibrates heavily when holdind 2000-2500 rpms

other than what we are facing, the car is perfect, as long as the accelerator is pressed or ease the movement by pressing a little clutch

of course te gearbox was second hand, i tried to find a new one, we actually have a locally assembled Tepmra , i went to the company but they said they dont have a gearbox in stock, i`ll have to buy the engine, the price was so damn expensive in a way that i got into a fight with the sales man.
i got my car for about 2500 euros, they want to sell the engine for about 4200 euros, INSANE...

when i peek inside the gearbox, make sure i`ll post some pics even if i didnt fix anything :)

Hello Galiliio I've had a specialist take a look in my gearbox as me hacking around usually creates problems rather than solving them. As you thought, the input shaft bearing is knackered plus my spline on 5th gear is shot. So I ordered a complete set of g/box bearings, spline and 2 x syncromesh whilst I was at it. For your info. the estimated bill is £350 including in-car fitting/removal which is rather more than a 2nd hand unit but I couldn't see any around. :rolleyes.
