Unlikely as 1: the pump size will be different and 2: the electrical connectors will be different. There will be tons of these cars in the scrap yard. get one off the same model and engine type. Is possible some other fiats run the same pump. dont know though.

As far as I know (Have not looked at a Fiat pump) The sender unit to operate the fuel gauge should be incorporated into the pump housing. You will see the float. If the car has been stood as long as you say then it will be stuck.

Well I went to the dump and was not successful.

I then bought a Bosch Universal in-tank electrical fuel pump for fuel injected engines with Lantis,Corolla,Camry,Starlet and Lancer marked on the box.
It cost me $195.00.
It looked like the old pump that came out. But the best part is that it works:) .The car finally started :D .
I had to cut the wiring at the old fuel pump end and joined it with an electrical connector to the wiring that was supplied with the new pump.
Although the cars mention on the box are all japanesse, (Lantis,Corolla,Camry,Starlet and Lancer) the pump was made in Germany.
This supports my view that the manufacturers dont make the parts, they buy them from suppliers and then assemble the cars.
The pound on average is about 3 t0 1 here meaning 1 pound equals $3 locally.
One of the local part suppliers had a notice about Genuine parts being a myth, saying that manufacturers buy the parts from the suppliers and sell them at 4 times the cost. The note also stated that it is the suppliers that spend millons making the parts and then compete selling them to the car manufacturers.

"genuine" parts are never made by the car manufacturer, they make cars not parts, however with many parts the supplier is contractually bound to supply no one else the same parts, only the car manufacturer.

other companies will then make the same part to sell to anyone, but it is very rarely the exact same part you will buy at a dealership, it will be the same spec and an exact copy of the dealer part but made by someone else (or often a subsiduary of the original supplier). quality and price is all that varies, and sometimes aftermarket parts are better than the original stuff, and cheaper.
