SX Formula tickover problem

I have just bought a Bravo Formula and I absolutely love it. I have one small problem, there is a slight rattling noise when the engine is idle. Has anyone encountered this before on an 80 SX? Is it connected with the idle problems that are already on this forum as it appears to be different. Any ideas before I take it to Fiat?

if you mean that it sounds like a (quiet) diesel then i've had the same problem (same model). i did ask the dealer and they said it was "piston slap" and it wasn't a problem.
i go along the lines of if it makes a noise there's wear going on. i'll let the warranty go on for a bit and if it's still there when it's about to go i'll ask for a new engine :) i don't think it really is much to worry about tho.
i think i'm gonna ask 'em to remap the ecu as well. i've not had stalls like people have said but it nearly does cut out sometimes in the circumstances mentioned. and i'd rather prevent the problem before it arises.

i've been really pleased with the formula. i'm glad they had the offer when i bought it. i don't think there's any car that looks as good with only a 1.2.

Tickover noise

My 1.2SX also sounds like a quiet diesel at tickover when the engine is cold. I've simply put it down to just that: a cold engine with thicker oil hence tappet noise etc. It's completely fine once the engine is warm.
