And the fact that the panda is a proper off roader....
The Swift is a decent car. I'd give serious consideration to one if replacing either of mine.
And by all accounts, the Swift Sport will absolutely trounce an A500, for less money.
Only thing is, could you live with a car with no soul?

And this is the problem. By the way, I drove a Swift Sport and didn't like it one bit. You have to rev the engine to bits to get any go and I'm not used to that, and the ride was too firm. Didn't like the steering either.
Good for kids who like that sort of thing, and a very well built and specified car, but not for me unfortunately.
Fiats do have real positive qualities that other makes don't, ones I mostly enjoy.

The Swift Sport was one of the cars on my shortlist however I never even drove it.
Went to the garage, opened the boot, realised my musical instrument would not fit, closed the boot and walked away.
My heart wanted to get that car but I couldn't face having to lug my instrument either onto the back seat or front passenger seat. Shame really.

Absolutely not- I needed to replace my characterful Alfa Mito
with a more practical 5-door car, but still fun to drive
That's just what I've found in the Panda Trekking TwinAir
My elderly parents can get in/out without assistance, and my
various bikes fit the boot- both folders with the sliding rear seat
right back, and the largest separable Moulton with it slid forward
only a couple of notches (still room for rear passengers!)
I can't imagine any other small car as flexible, plus the engine's
a hoot to use, with a great choice of performance or economy :devil:
Haven't yet seriously tested its off-road or poor-weather capabilities,
but it's reassuring to know they're built-in

When I heard there was going to be a swift 4x4, I had a twinge of 'I wish I'd known back in match cos I'd have liked to have tried it' and 'oh god have I been too impulsive and bought my panda?'. But no, I've just got to see the orange car outside and jump in and drive it to know that I would have chosen it anyway.
Its a fab car, so flexible and practical + its a proper off-roader with 30-odd years of pedigree.

I think you definatly made the right choice if you think you may want something that has some real off road capabilities. I knew about the swift 4x4 before I went for the panda (and I order at Christmas) as it was available abroad. I read the reviews though and thought it'd be a compromise. The old petrol panda 4x4 I really liked the idea of but couldn't live with the performance as my only car. The diesel version of the panda (cross) would have been great but I never liked all the plastic trim on the front. Then eventually fiat put the TA in and really did a great job of the styling (my opinion) and came up with a brilliant little car with real 4x4 credentials.
The swift is a great idea but it's not really an off road vehicle and I'd always be thinking 'if only it had a turbo or the swift sport engine it'd be a great day', in the same way I'd never have been happy with a panda cross because of the plastic styling or the 1.2 petrol panda 4x4.
I'm sure my rambling thoughts make some sense.
All credit to Suzuki though for bringing that version to the UK.
