Technical Swaybar hitting right side control arm

Hello all,

My car has been making a clunking noise from the front right (EU, passenger side) when going over sudden bumps like potholes or cobblestone streets. I've just had a look and found the recently replaced control arm has started showing some surface rust, it looks to be worse right below the swaybar. Any guesses?

Your car really a 2008? The lack of rust compared to the UK is insane.
Check the roll bar to see if it actually hits the control arm?

Yes, 2008 and it just passed 263000km (163000 miles) Always street parked. I'll try to get a look at them while driving tomorrow.

I suggest ots the antiroolbar link rods being worn. The anti roll bar cannot hit tthe control arm unless something is badly bent. Alsp check steering ball jpits and that the spring isnt broken.

The rubber bushing here is a common failure, causing knocking.

I'd be surprised if it could hit the sway bar as a result, but there does look like signs of impact.

Test it by levering it with a bar to see if there's any free movement.

Well, it's been a while, but I finally got around to checking the control arm. The marked bearing was in awful condition and was replaced under warranty. Sadly, there is still a knocking sound from the front right end while making sharp left turns or going over cobblestone streets. Could this be a problem with the end links? What is the best way of replicating and diagnosing this noise with the car jacked up so I can have a look.
