Hi all,
had my multipla about 16 months now and besides rear discs & pads no probs....until last week. The tailgate doesnt open with the boot "switch" , you have to keep your finger on the release switch near the handbrake and then press the boot switch at the same time, i think you can hear the microswitch i n the boot switch click but it doesnt release the lock completely so you can open it. Obviously not ideal for the wife when shes on her own and needs to get the buggy out of the boot. Next one is the rear sunroof, this hasnt been touched for approx 4-5 months for obvious reasons, but today being a nice sunny day and my turn for the nursery-school run i decided to air the car, both opened back as they should, however when i got home and tried to close them the rear one wouldnt shut at all. There was no movement or sound, when i pressed the open button there was a click sound. I have managed to shut the roof manually ( i find it quite funny Fiat have seen fit to install this feature, knowing one day it WILL fail), just to add when i shut the roof manually it will open again electrically so i dont think its the fuse/relay.
Any advise appreciated

Yes my boot switch has quit working in the last couple of weeks so when I am on my own I use the key - good job they provided that.

My rear sunroof wouldn't open last year after the winter but after opening and closing a few times manually it has been ok since. I think if we lived in Italy where they were made and we used the sunroof every day then maybe they wouldn't get seized??

Funny, that..... for the first time since I bought my ugly bug, I opened both sunroofs recently (last weekend when it was sunny) and the rear one wouldn't close. Totally panicked as the forecast was for rain that afternoon/the following day. Luckily looked in the book after advice from an electric man in the Yellow Pages (an honest one, yes!) and manually closed it. Stupidly did it again and thank god for that key.... MUST remember not to use it ever again....

Basically they seize up because we don't/can't use them enough, so if you open and close it a few times with the key then after it is free enough try doing the same with the switch and it may be ok and you'll be able to use it for the summer. Long summer trips in the car are more fun with a working sunroof. :)

My rear sunroof would sometimes not close. I noticed that, when I hadn't closed the front one properly and it rained, water came into the car through the sunroof switches. I took out the switch panel, unplugged the switches and cleaned the contacts on the back, connected back up and it worked. Might me worth a try, the panel pulls out easily.
