Technical Sump plug tool

Hi Folks,
I read on this forum that the sump plug tool was a 12mm allen key. After offering up my 12mm allen key its wayyyyyyyy too big, as is my 10mm. Also, looking into the plug itself it looks like it may be torx not allen ?


Can anyone confirm plz ?

Anyone have a definitive answer on this plz ? Was hoping to do the job this weekend.

When mine was reluctant to turn, not having the correct tool, I used a hammer & chisel on the flange and tapped it off!

It needs some kind of star/Torx driver, what you could do is use some blu-tack to make an impression of its shape and then go down to somewhere like Halfords - I'm pretty sure that's where I got mine when I ran into the same problem
