General Sump Oil feed to turbo

General Sump Oil feed to turbo

You need a pressure feed to the tub (from one of the Hex bolts on the front of the oil pump -- can't remember OTTOMH which is which, one is filtered, the other unfiltered, you must use the filtered!) and a big fat drain to the sump. The adaptor can be brazed or welded on and needs to be as high as possible: above the normal oil level (or it won't drain properly and your turbo will die horribly).

make sure u dont have too much of the fitting inside the sump.. else when you refit the sump and turn the engine over the crank will hit the fitting.. (not that i did that.. ..honest!)

Have any of you lads got a reference photo of which hex bolt take off is filterred??

Arc, in this pic could you circle it for me , I really am a noob with mechanics and although I converted an engine in my last motor im a tad confused re turbo's

See the plan is a local enginerring firm is going to machine an adaptor plater to my standard manifold to add the wee t15 on there and same wth the downpipe.

Fingers , yh that looks ideal mate

Need to come forward a bit with the camera. Easy way, from the front, grab hold of the oil filter and on the block it mounts to, to the left, you should see two allen headed bolts, facing front. Top one for the turbo, bottom one is an ideal take off for the oil pressure/oil temp guages.

Don't forget the oil cooler! ;)

instead of making up an adaptor, you will need to cut up the standard manifold and weld a plate on to the that. i've attached some pics of the manifold i had made up
