Hi guys,

Im currently running this headunit :
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-kenwood-kdc-w3044a_p-26012.htm

This Amp:
http://turborevs.org.uk/vmchk/in-car-entertainment-i.c.e./amplifiers/fli-400s-400w-car-audio-amplifier.html

Is powering This Sub:
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-audiobahn-aw1251t_p-23430.htm

And is wired with this kit:
http://www.celsusice.co.uk/shopdisp_1332.php

I cant seem to get it to work, i blew 4 fuses, and it is grounded to where the guide suggests..

When i finally got it to work, it drained the battery that was fully charged in about 5 mins of quiet playing!

I poke to a guy in halfrauds, and he reckoned getting a power cap. But i have only heard bad things about this.

can anyone shed some light?

where does the guide say to earth it and what section is it in. i will have to check the links when i can get to a comp. sounds like too small fuse to me.

Which fuse. Inline or in amp.

I had another look at it today, everything is wired in correctly, it just seems to be sucking huuuuuuge amounts of power from the system, and i still havent got it to sound remotely bassy, its soo quiet, my little 6" speakers are bassier than the supposed 1200w sub!!!

Haha margate is a trek from me!!

How would i of wired it 8 ohms, i literally plugged it into the amp terminals saying left and right... Ill pop a photo up in a minute if you want.. There are 4 terminals on the sub itself. 2 on one side, 2 on the other...

So how would i wire it to 4 ohms

Use a "Multi-meter" to see how much the unit / amp is drawing as it should not be drainning your battery. Good luck.

You need to test the coil resistance with a multi meter and report back.
IIRC those are 2x 4ohm coils. Wiring as you have would show 8 ohm load and im surprised you amp hasnt got an overload protection to stop this.
So for now im going to assume you have 2x4ohm coils.

Your amp wont be stable at 2 ohms in bridged mode so option 1, you wire each coil onto its own channel on the amp. If you do this then make sure each channel is set exactly the same as it could be problematic.

The other option is to wire the coils + to + and - to - and then to 1 channel of the amp at 2ohm load (4+4)/(4x4)= 2ohm. This means you will have a channel spare but a fully funcional and non dangerous install. Also 1 channel at 2 ohm would be similar power to both channels bridged at 4.

Hope that isnt all gobbledy gook lol.

Edit just checked Cack website "12" natural sound subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils" so yeah your running 8ohm

I kind of get it..

I will take photos of all the terminals tomorrow so you can see, because there are 2 +&- on one side of the sub, and another 2 +&- on the other side of the sub....

i have it wired in like that link, all on one terminal, so the other one has no wires coming from it.

I quite like the system at the moment, but i so regret waiting and buying a sub and amp combo, and front components. Once i start my new job i will look into getting better gear

You just need to learn how to wire the sub. You have wired the coil to itself. I.e you have 2 coils and you have only wired one. Both the + and - on each side are connected to each other, there are only 4 holes because Audiobahn are complete douches. Why they would make something that is predominantly sold to noobs so complicated i dont know. :bang:
This shouldnt drain the power, only a faulty battery or a permanant feed on the remote wire would do this.
Basically put a wire on 1 positive on 1 side and connect it to 1 positive on the other. Then the same with the - Then to one channel of your amp. It should sound better if you havnt blown the sub already.

There definately isnt a faulty battery or a permanent feed, as the amp nly comes on when the radio is on...

It seems to be sucking to much power when it is on, as all the interior lights, stereo back lighting and the FLI logo on the amp flicker in time to the notes the sub is punching out..

Its really odd.

I will try what you suggested tomorrow. :), if not i will just save u for a fresh system, and do it properly this time..

Most cars will do that. My charging system is so ****ed i get people flashing back at me because they thing im flashing them lol.

Also because you have wired the sub so dodgy you could have the gain to high. If it is wrong then you will get a significant current rise and over dimming of lights.
Im now wondering if you have a battery problem at all. When you say it drains the battery in 5 minutes can you describe exactly what you mean?
