And that's me being polite.

Went out to hoover the Flying Chicken tonight, and found scratches on the roof and drag marks on the roof rails. Somebody has obviously put something on my roof when parked next to me, then dragged it off leaving the mess behind. How f-ing rude is that?

Anyhow, here's me digging out the touch up paint, knowing that it's going to leave a horrible mess, coz you can't really touch up a five inch scratch with one of those little brushes, and I came across a scratch remover thing that I'd bought about a year ago for another car, and hadn't worked.

Anyhow, what the hell, I thought I'd give it a go, and the results were AMAZING! I wish I'd taken before and after photos to show you... my car is blue, the scratches were through to white. A couple of goes with the scratch remover, and I've just a couple of tiny bits than need touchup paint. Originally there were three or four long, swirly scratches, and it looked like someone had dragged a nail file over the roof bars! The remover is a bit like a marker pen, just draw on the scratches, and they disappear! Wipe off the excess, re-apply in an hour or so. I think it's some sort of lacquer that reflects the paint to hide the scratch - works fine on my metallic paint, didn't have as much effect on the original car I got it for, which was non-metallic.

I then used it on the light scratches in the door handle recess, and they disappeared too. You need to do two or three coats, otherwise the scratches seem to reappear. It's not going to work for everything, but well worth a couple of quid, if you ask me.

This is what I used - available all over ebay...

 I'm a born cynic but if that is half as good as it looks for that money then it should be in everyones glovebox! The demo scratch looked like it would definitely be felt with a thumbnail too... anyone else tried it who has no commercial interest? I have 3 cars with minor scratches... I think I'll risk it, looks almost like it melts the paint into the scratch but I dont believe in magic... Anyone?

I also had a three inch long straight horizontal scratch on a door - i ran the pen across it and it disappeared. A couple of hours later it had reappeared, so I did it again, then applied a second coat about half an hour later. Now i'd have to look really carefully to even find where it had been. It doesn't melt the paint or anything - if you wipe gently with a clean tissue afterwards its just a clear residue.
When I first got it, I had to 'prime' it py pressing the tip in and out about fifty times. Now the tip's lookign a littel worn, but it still works fine, so I don't even think that it's worth worrying about the spare tips that some sellers are including.
In fact, I'll nip down now and take some photos...

Seen it on the Bay for 99p! Here is the detail... Item number: 390187170609

For 99p as long as it doesnt fook my paint up I'll risk it lol!

I just get impatient waiting three weeks for it to come form China, so pay the extra to get it within a couple of days!
Just been to take photos, but the cars next to it are too close to get a decent pic, and actually it doesn't look that good any more! The scratches seem to have reappeared a little, it wants another coat or two. Looked perfect yesterday after I applied it! I think the deeper it is the more coats it need to build up to the level of the paintwork...

It should be OK... my Chinese one might not be genuine Simoniz tho...

The Simonize brand is good. Nothing to lose I guess as long as it doesnt make it any worse.... :p

I used their bulk wash/ wax stuff and it was very good for the money. Not a detailers dream but cleaned the car and bought out some colour that is lost due to lack of waxing.

Ive used Autoglym Super Resin Polish previously, which initially gives fantastic results on minor scratches, but as you say, a few weeks later they seem to reappear! Quite strange.

Mixed reviews on Amazon.co, I guess it comes down to expectations... you cant expect a deep gouge to be fixed by a pen alone... but if it fixes light scratches in the top-coat I'll be happy... 1st test will be Mrs Ffoxy's black Picanto with shopping trolley scars...

It's arrived, I used it, scratches have vanished on Mrs Ffoxy's black Picanto & my i30! Damp sponged the excess off & honestly they have gone! I wait to see what happens after the next wash but hope I can get some wax on the vanished scratches before then...

what you are seeing are the "fillers" in the SRP degrading sealing the finish with Extra gloss protection should make it last a lot longer
