Hi,
I have a Brava 80SX. It has developed a strange noise which I wondered if anyone else has experienced or could help me with.
The car drives perfectly normal but when decelerating at low speeds there is a strange rhythmic knocking noise, almost like a worn drive shaft. The only thing is whenever the car is either accelerated or kept at a constant speed the noise stops, which seems to suggest that it probably isn't driveshaft wear. The noise started about a month ago and has got a bit worse. Initially when the clutch was pressed the noise seemed to disappear, it doesn't now, it just gets a little quiter. The noise sounds like it is coming from the front left hand wheel, but I am confident it is not a wheel bearing as the wheels seems fine, spins ok and has no play or knocking when turned by hand. The brake discs aren't significantly worn and the car brakes as normal. I also took it for a very fast run on the motorway yesterday and all is fine in that respect. Cornering does not seem to affect the noise, nor does the problem affect handling.
Reducing speed at high speeds does not seem to make the noise.
Any help most appreciated.
