Sorry that my first post is a question. Have been reading the forums for a while but never needed to post in the past.

I have a weird problem with my JTD Multipla that I have seen on a few posts here but mine is slightly different. Bascially, my wife was trying to start the car and it just turned over, would not start. This has happened a few times recently and after about 10 - 30 mins it will eventually start. This happened again this morning but my key was at home so I told her to just go and try my key instead. As soon as she did this it started first time.

I was thinking maybe the key battery was running low in the old non working key so told her to go to the Fiat garage and get a new one (battery that is). When she got there they said that they had never heard of this and in fact the key is most likely damaged or needs re-programing and here's the rub, at least £150 for the re-program and even more for a new key.

Does this sound right to the experts on here or are they trying it on a bit? Is my theory about the battery even plausable - TBH I have no idea at all how these things work.

Many thanks for any comments and once again sorry my first post is a cry for help rather than helping some one else first.

the battery in the key is only for the remote.the re-coding of the keys may cure your probs[you need to take all keys you have],but £150 is over the top.ring other fiat garages and ask how much, then ring your local garage and see if they will match the price.........................
