Hello,

Patient: Linea 1.4 8v 77HP 57kW 2010

Strange things started happening with my Linea. The first symptom was that when I tried to start the car, a warning light with a car and a padlock appeared. I found out it’s related to the immobilizer. After a few attempts, I managed to start the engine… but the following day, more symptoms appeared, occurring randomly:

Check engine light and a "check engine" message

The tachometer shows 0 even though the engine is running

Instead of showing the outside temperature, only dashes are displayed

When turning the key to the first position, the car reports high temperature and tells me to turn off the engine, even though the car hasn’t been started for several hours

As I mentioned, some of the symptoms appear and disappear with subsequent start attempts.

The check engine light stays on permanently, and the outside temperature is not displayed. The other issues seem to occur randomly.

The battery is charged, and I’ve checked and reconnected the plugs to the ECU and the fuse box under the hood, but it didn’t help. There are no signs of rodent damage or any visible wiring issues. I did have cracked wiring in the passenger door, but disconnecting them didn’t change anything either.

I checked the ground connections in the cabin and added an extra ground wire from the battery to the gearbox, but it didn't help.

The battery is, of course, fully charged. I also tried using different keys, but it doesn't affect the occurrence of the errors.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

Before I got halfway down your post, I was thinking it sounded like data corruption on the Low Speed (LS) bus.
Not sure diconnecting helps either, as it probably also registers as a fault.

I did look at the tailgate but there's nothing electrical on it barring probably the lock/number plate light, but then further down I see that you previously had cracked wiring. So I would (recheck it's still intact) and be looking at the other doors starting with the drivers door where it's flexing at the hinge, and work through them.

Good post BTW, great info, and welcome to the forums.
