Technical stopping airbag light with aftermarket seats??

A couple of months back I fitted Alfa GT seats into my stilo. The only problem I have now is that the airbag light is on. Alot of my friends say that you can wire in resisters into the air bag system which will trick the car into thinking the airbags are connected. now I know this works on other cars, but does it work with the stilos? As I know from past experience the stilos tend to have quite complex electrical systems.

No definitely not for the OCS if that's what is now missing

Which connectors have you disconnected? If you have an OCS and the OCS was ok before, can you not strip off the OCS sensor from the old seat and put it in the new seat between the foam padding and the outer cover?

Other than that, some people install an OCS simulator available on Ebay but that's not a cheap box of tricks

Everything worked fine before. I disconnected the seats underneath when I took them out. Could I just take the air bag sensor out the old seats and just plug them into the car (without putting the sensor inside the new seats)

Yes you could do that. Do you have an OCS as some Stilos do and some don't. That's the tricky one to simulate. For the others, the side airbags, then a suitable resistor may do the job if you're already decided on changing the seats and removing the safety airbags

If you are putting the whole OCS sensor anywhere else than the actual seat you will stop the error, but the passenger airbag will not be deployed in case of a crash since it senses nobody is on the seat.

The safest way is to buy the simulator as that is small and will cause the airbag system to permanently think there is someone on the seat.

if you have OCS buy some resistors, cheaper option than a simulator. although nobody on this forum has actually crashed hard enough for bag deployment to confirm or deny the simulator or resistor mod. so its pretty much hit and miss as to whether or not it will work the only 100% way to do it is to fit the stilo OCS mat
