I’ve heard of lots of issues with the triangle light coming on and going off again with no apparent reason but not related to the stop start. Is your stop start functioning when on? And you aren’t getting a momentary message on start up?

im going to rerun the car and see the exact sequence and which light comes on. of course never does it when u want it to lol. when the stop start had activated it will sometimes restart by itself for no reason,no clutch pedal pressed.i wonder if whatever tell the ecu the clutch has been pressed is out of adjustment or faulty.. wondered it multiecuscan monitored the pedal switch?

If it is restarting itself quite quickly then your battery may be on its way out. Battery failing is also cause for lights coming on and off intermittently

good point never thought about battery as it seems ok but my be dropping on voltage when engine off..time to pop the code reader on and see if anythings stored..flippin intermittant faults that wont fault when u want them too are the worst

Low battery volts often throw random faults (warning lights) also erratic stop/start behaviours can be related. Even if the battery "sounds" ok on start up there can still be an issue - if it is the original battery (2020) I could imagine its time has come. It might benefit from a charge from a so called smart charger which can "recondition" batteries to a certain extent but in my experience the writing could be on the wall...

The faintest touch of the clutch will cause a resart. Inadvertant brushing of thepedal does this in mine. It restarts when you have had time to check your appearance in the mirror and straightened your silk cravatte, or after a few minutes. If it saw my appearance it would definitely refuse to start at all.

is there a switch on the clutch pedal??.. there must be a gearbox in neutral switch as well i presume... of course now its not doing any of it.. the one that concerns me is when driving with the s/s disenguaged after soem time it will bring on the warning light and say stop start unavailable.. still gona buy it a new battery as dont want it failing in winter and it is 5 years old and s/s batteries take a hammering

Yes, both. If the neutral switch is sticking, sometimes gently wiggling the gear lever around the neutral position can activate S/S.

Good call. If S/S has kept going for 5 years, it's actually lasted better than many.

its only done 27000 so stop start not over used..do have a problem with clutch pedal a bit high is there an adjustment on them?

My car is now 6.5 yrs old and the battery is definitely not 100%. It likes an occasional charge if not run for 10 days to avoid stop start being tardy. As of today though it still works exactly as when new, other than if parked for a couple of weeks. Its just started to be slow to achieve 14.2v at the end of its charge, but will get there after an overnight charge. I will change the battery if the ss plays up for a full week. My ss is only off in queues of slow moving traffic and has worked near flawlessly so I dont even notice it now. As a rural driver it doesnt get much to do. My miles have now reached 29k so like you it ought still to work ok especially as the car has 7 service stamps in the book with oil plugs and filters done every time.
