Well guys i think i top it all

last night after a lil GSR meet in london, i manages to take the stilo of the clock last night, but this was obviously not o the road and on a private track because that is very dangerous.

I ahve a fiat Stilo 1.9 jtd lowered 35mm on 17"s with a nice remap made up from the obd tunning software which i sell.

i was racing my mates HGT who topped out at 138mph whilst i was able to go over the 145mph clock limiter! could not believe it i have never felt so much adrenaline pumping it was a whit knuckle ride!

I can now say i do have the fastest stilo going!

anyone beat that???

Yip, we have had a Punto JTD clocked with a police calibrated device at 235kmh - yep thats 143mph :) - obviously not in the UK!

(y) Hi...Guys.. Talking about top speeds... ive got a 1.8 16v stilo, i changed my alloys to some 17" KEI racing light weight alloy (only 6.2kg per wheel) .. Ive had 60mph out of 2nd gear only doing jus ova 6k revs, surely u can get more than 62mph cos it can go round to 8.5k revs! my top speed so fare, when i was racing a 106gti and a saxo vtr; i went by both of em at 130mph and got to 140mph and had to let off because ran out of road.. gona try n get bit more out of it hopefully! if i do ill let ya know! If anybody is think about getting alloys for there stilo, with out a doubt the best alloys are the KEI racing, they are lighter than the standard 16" alloys that were on my stilo.. and increase the pick up quite noticably and improve the handling shed loads!

But be warned the wheels will cost you anything around a 1K.. Well worth it tho :slayer: They look awesome....

The 1.8 will beat a 206 S16 from a 20 mph rolling start and will hold its own against a 140 HP 140 CTD-I Honda Accord on the highway. At least mine did. Then again, the car did at least 10 kph more than the factory said, verified by tyree diameter calculations. As for the top speeds... I got pulled over for doing 176 km/h 2 weeks ago by the police. I had the cruise control on at a little over 175 km/h, so the speedo seems to be accurate. But how on Earth did I achieve 220 km/h with two passengers in the car? I must have some freak of nature Stilo or something :D

that int that good, thats a abarth, and i have a standard jtd doin 135!!

I've had the speedo just on 150 but I challange anyone that hasn't had the rev limiter removed to take it any higher there simply isn't any more revs left, even if the car had the power to go any faster. It's easy to say "i've done 155, 160, 170" prove it?!

How exactly can light wheels increase the geared top speed of a gear, it just isn't possible. Lighter wheels would contribute to quicker 0-60 but not doing more than the gearing is designed. You could increase the gearing by fitting bigger wheels with the incorrect tyre profile, but then this would also feck up your speedo reading.

On the subject of accurate speedo's, my Navman GPS is quoted as "accurate". At and indicated 100 mph, GPS says I'm only doing 94!

I've had mine up to 135mph on a private test track (M69, late at night, L.O.L), but didn't have the Nvman with me. It Feels rock solid at that speed as well!

Mike hope that was a private road!!! :p

Ummmm kinda... I was the only one on the road, does that count ;)
It felt incredibaly comfortable though, didn't fidgit at all and the steering was still quite solid...

Just test my 1.8 and it won't go over 60 in second, cos it hits the rev limiter. It did feel like it would go quite a bit further if it wasn't restricted, but then it would probably melt as well.
