Technical Stilo Seat Airbags ?

Ok All,

Seeing as I'm new to Stilo's I have two questions:

1: Did all 3dr Leather seats come fitted with the Side Air Bags as standard ?

next question depends on answer to the above

2: If they didn't, can I retrofit my Side Air Bags out of my current cloth seats into them along with the wiring and would they work as normal ? (will have to swap over wiring as orange connector is different on the Leather Seats compared to my cloth ones).

ok, looking into this further it looks like not all leather seats had the airbag option. So what i need to know now is IF i fit the base off my old seats (with correct connector) to my new leather seats will I get an airbag fault due to the new seats not having any airbags fitted ?

And if I do how do I disable the seat side airbags, so I don't get the fault ?

Yes.... you would get an open circuit fault if the side airbags were not fitted.

You could experiment with a bypass resistor for each of the 2 vacant connectors. I seem to remember that the steering wheel air bag needed a 3.9Ω resistor, but the side airbags could be different. The resistance needs to be very accurate, so you may need a selection from the E24 preferred values list to experiment with. https://www.electronics2000.co.uk/data/itemsmr/res_val.php

As far as I know, you can't disable airbags. The airbag ECU is different depending on whether the car has 2, 4, 6 or 8 airbags. Depending on which airbags you have left after removing the seat side ones, you may be able to get an appropriate replacement ECU, however, the ECUs and the connectors have different locating grooves and number of pins.
