Hi

I have a 2006 Stilo 1.4 Blue so relaunch model. I took the rear beam off to change the dreaded bushes (can't complain - after 20 years and 150k miles) and came face to face with some corrosion holes on the spring pans. Started refurbing but quite a bit of work so now I'm thinking just replace the beam with a new one. Scrapper ones seem to be short in supply and rotten. Does anyone know if the Bravo 2 beam is the same as late Stilo's? Part numbers don't seem to correlate but in pictures they look identical. Did ask an axle specialist. They said no as Bravo 2 has rear discs. My Stilo has rear discs. So, asked them if they could give me some measurements for the Bravo 2 one they are selling. They never responded. Anyone know if compatible or done it? Not tried Fiat for a Stilo beam as assume either not available or crazy cost.

Frustrating as the car's sound but stranded on axle stands - any advice appreciated!

Get a Bravo one and make it fit. It might be different .. but it might not be that different. For example if there is a screw hole in a different place for a handbrake cable retaining bracket... it would have a different part number, but it would still fit. You might get lucky though, otherwise you'll have to get creative.

Thanks for the reply. Can see on pictures that all of the mountings for brake pipes, handbrake cables etc are the same. Seems to be be an extra one on the Bravo 2 for the self levelling headlamp beam adjust but that doesn't matter. Checked silent block bushes and they are the same part number. Pity there isn't a community database where you can check compatability for stuff like this - there used to be something for classic car owners. Most manufacturers aren't going to volunteer that info if there is money to be made. I recall that Maserati Biturbo headlamps were Fiat 127 but you'd never know from the manufacturers and you'd pay a fortune at the Maserati dealer.

Bravo is a good shout if you have a late (facelift) model. I have noticed that a few parts like front suspension is the same between a Bravo and a MJet Stilo (120bhp) for example.. unfortunately mine is a JTD 115bhp.

Great - thanks for that. Appreciate it!

I'm not 100% familiar with my axle (2004 JTD) but I have spent a lot of time under the car over the years and that does look like it's fundamentally identical.

I think the compatibility chart is reliable - it excludes the models with xenon bulbs, since those had an extra bracket welded on for the car attitude/level sensors. Even if you needed one of those... welding the brackets from your old sub-frame would not be too tricky, if this was the last subframe available on the planet.

There's a lot of metal on that rear beam are you sure that it can't be weld repaired and/or plated ?
Thanks for the reply. Holes are one thing but some indeterminate flaking of rust, thinning inside in the cavities at either end. Just want to be confident when under load as my lad will be driving it too and if £300 or so will get me a new one I can fit and forget about then I think it's worth it. I'd already uprated the springs and shocks all round. Eibach Pros - best upgrade - how it should have come out the factory.

Thanks. Yes, no Xenon but don't think that bracket fouls anything even if it was on it and left on. I used one of those compare two images photo apps and if you overlay the Stilo and Bravo 2 images they seem to match perfectly. Just psyching myself up to take the plunge and buy it!
