Could someone with a Stilo MultiWagon please measure the front and rear ride heights for me.

The manual (eLearn) says it should be 74.6cm for both front and rear measured from the center of the wheel arches to the ground. Mine measures 65cm at the front and 70cm at the rear.

I think my front may be too low because the front exhaust flexi often scrapes the top of speed bumps (but not by 9.6cm surely), however I don't think the rear needs be any higher so I'm thinking the eLearn figures may not be correct or maybe I'm reading something wrong.

I am always scraping the black plastic spoiler thingie on the bottom of the bumper though on mine. But never have i hit the bottom of mine well apart from driving across fields and tracks.

Oh is yours a jtd as well as they might be slightly different.

I took my black plastic spoiler off a while ago because it was getting knocked off.

As your heights are about the same as mine, I guess it's supposed to be like it. I think the car looks a bit odd though, with the back so high and the front so low and I'm still puzzled why the manual says it should be level.

Even oem springs sag a bit (and break :() and there's a lot of weight on the front.

It's also constantly overlooked that cars normally have passengers & luggage on board ;)
 
I realise that Argo but eLearn suggests it should be measured without passengers and only 5 litres of fuel. (Yeah right, I'm sure the garages do that before tightening suspension components... drain all but 5 litres of fuel)

How about looking at this another way and measuring the actual clearance under jacking points (up to sill seam only - not the point at which the jack takes the load)

I'd say a Multiwagon should have as least as much clearance as a 5 door and certainly more than a 3 door :chin:

MW's should be exactly the same as other JTD's in the front, but the rear sits high when unloaded and drops a noticeably with even a light load in the boot.
Also bear in mind that manufacturers often specify different springs in different countries to account for different road conditions. I will measure mine later and let you know, but I suspect it has sagged from standard.
 
Not much different to ours really then, But hadnt noticed them look so nose down before. Willl try to take a pic and see what mine looks like.

@Argo. I don't really see your point of measuring from a different reference point but from the bottom of the sill seams adjacent to the jacking point marks, mine measures 16.5cm front and 20.0 cm rear. Those points are fairly close together so 3.5cm incline seems quite a lot.

@John. ePER lists the same part number for the springs no matter which country you set it for.

My main concern is that I think the front of my car is too low. The new springs fitted to the front a few months ago are Kilen branded (part of Lesjofors of Sweden). The only difference I can find is that ePER lists a different part number for with or without air con. whereas Kilen lists the same spring for both but I doubt the extra weight of the air con. components would make much difference.

Just found these on eBay Germany, 20mm spring spacers, they should lift the front enough to keep my exhaust off the speed bumps. Only problem is they want €54 plus €18 postage for them. Anyone seen them in the UK anywhere?

Just checked my 5 door (I'm assuming wing is same shape) and I've got about 67cms on the front.

I can only assume the Multiwagon is just a heavier car but Fiat fit the same springs :chin:

A stiffer damper might help on speed bumps and the like.
 
Interesting thread! Having parked next to a 1.6 recently I noticed that mine seem to be standing noticably lower, by about an inch and I had new front spings c/o Fiat last July! Pointed it out to Mrs WNWL as it baffles me - my suspension is stock Fiat!

Mine is a 5dr but I have recently bought a caravan and have been looking at spring assisters from Towsure, which are similar to your spacer pic, at £14 - £16 a pair will hopefully stop the rear of my car bottoming out when caravan is attached and the outfit is loaded up for action.

Clever books on caravanning, which I am reading as a total noobie to it, say check with dealer to ensure that it is OK to fit spring assisters... will ring my Fiat Dealer and ask ;)
