Hi all can someone help my stilo has just started running a bit rough when started from cold in a morning. Sometimes the engine light comes on sometimes it doesnt. When pulling away and revving its very flat like the old style choke on a car is left on. I took out a coil yesterday and also cleaned the throttle body but its still the same. Can anyone explain how to refit the coil i know it sounds stupid and simple but does it push on to the plug like a normal ht lead. When i pushed mine on fully it was sat very low and the coil retainer that screws in to the top left a gap of about 3/4 inches so i wiggled it to make it level with the others. So does it push on with a click or does it just sit on
its a 53 plate stilo dynamique 1.6.
Thanks in advance and happy new year.
Incidently it runs better but not right when warm and it starts fine hot or cold.

The new one should simply "pop-in" its place i.e. on the spark-plug, and the spark-plug should have connector (terminal nut) on itself.
There is no standard "click" but you can feel as it sits in its place.

Mine didn't appear to sit right but I'd know if it wasn't connecting as it'd run v bad wouldn't it also the nut on the plug do you mean the normal bit on top if I force the coil down I can feel a click but when I let go it just rises again

Ok so how does it connect to a plug if it pops back out I know I'm sounding thick but if you don't ask you don't know thanks

What is the brand of the new one?
I bought champion from ebay (for the second time) and didn't have any problems.
Even my wife was confused how fast I replaced it... :)
Only pulling the old ones was a little bit harder.

Maybe if You try to remove coil & spark plug out of the car and try fitting it in your hands to see if something's wrong.

i never put in any new just removed to have a look but it was just difficult to reseat even when the cap is fitted the coil appears to be loose but like i say last trip went with no issues

Sorry, I misunderstood... :(
But, as I wrote before, it was a bit hard to remove the old coils (was doing it when changing sparkplugs).

Few days before, one of the coil broke down, and I have replaced it with the original one (that was removed earlier from other cylinder and kept as reserve). The fitting also went without trouble.

Here are two photos of the coil end with the connector - spring. I cut the rubber that is holding it
to see what's inside:

The coil is (original) SAGEM PBT-GF20.

The spring is not fixed to coil body, but the end-rubber (that I cut) is holding it in it's place (making contact to the end-surface of coil).

If you don't have spring I guess that's making problem.

Before cutting that rubber, the spring was easy noticeable inside. If you see only flat metal plate then spring is missing.
(But keep in mind that mine coil is SAGEM, maybe other coils don't have the same "spring" type of connection).
