Hi, new to this forum. Recently bought a 1.6 Dynamic 5dr 1.6v 02 Stilo and trying to sort out a few electrical niggles.

1: The radio/tape on/off switch doesn't work though the volume works fine. You have to turn down the volume or press the mute button instead- can this be sorted?

2: The Blaupunkt 5 cd changer doesn't work at all other than do a good job of swallowing up CDs. Can these be repaired or are they just junk?
I would ideally like to fit a 3.5mm jack to use an mp3 player instead of cds anyway. Is there any particular recommended kit I should get installed?

Thanks

I would imagine that the volume controll is knackered and would need fixing so possibly not going to be cost affective.
Unless you have the CN+ HU i wouldnt bother getting an MP3 adaptor the only ones that work well are pretty expensive so you are probably better off geting a new HU that has a function for MP3 connectivity.

Also the buttons with numbers (1-5) on the right side intermittantly flash orange-green. Does this mean anything to anyone? As I can't turn off my radio unit, maybe this has something to do with it if they are linked.

Are the Blaupunkt changers fix-able? Are there any recommended repair companies in Edinburgh?

I would imagine that the problem is more the HU than the changer and either are very cost affective to fix. You know you want to buy yourself a nice aftermarket unit.
You could probably sell the faulty equipment for the same price as fitting an aftermarket unit with MP3 connectivity.

can't help with HU (could be a matter of opening it up and cleaning the switch)
As for the changer - in my experience it will flash as described if a cd is jammed - simplest thing to try is to disconnect it and connect it back (it would then reset and, with luck, will work just fine): Open lower glovebox and look towords the top (directly under the changer) there is a small plastic flap held on with a screw - you can pull open the flap using your fingers (no need to undo the screw if you don't want to) - you will find a plug behind the flap - (it doesn't pull out much so be careful) - unplug your changer and then plug it back in
