Stilo aftermarket components and fitting problems

Did a search but couldnt find anything relative!
Was told on stilos that i had to run my xover from the speaker to the tweeter. Didnt make much sence.. I want to run the xover straigh from the headunit/amp but the standard wiring must already have a xover of some sort? Right? So how do i get it to go from main sorce to xover then woofer then tweeter?
If you dont understand just attempt to put right what i have messed up lol.
Btw i tryed running it from the woofer wire into the xover then woofer then tweeter. Sounded awfull!

It would help if we knew what type of x-over and speakers you are using. Normally if it is a x-over box you cut the plug off the wire that would go into the woofer and put this on the input of the comps and then out to the woofer and tweeter accordingly.
