Hi i have a 2004 stilo 1.9 jtd and it starts okay runs for about 10 seconds then cuts out, after that it will not start up again for about 45 mins, can anyone help please?

cheers mate, i had thought of that and bought some noid lights to check the pulse on the injectors, even when it does not start i have a pulse so i think the sensor is okay. cheers Dazza110772.

cheers "T" + Deck. checked fuel delivery through a leak off test and found ample fuel coming through even when it's just cranking over, replaced crank sensor and still the same. Cheers Dazza110772

check the timing belt my car had the same problem the cam belt later stripped completely and i bent all 16 valves look to see if its tensioned properly and all the teeth are ok

Tell us what you have tested and done and it will save time

So it starts as normal but then dies. Then it will turn over fine with no sign of life? And then after 45 minutes you can start as normal again?

Sounds weird but i had a car with a loosened exhaust baffle plate once that did that. It would start and then as exhaust pressure built up it just died and you'd have to wait until the exhaust pressure died off again, it would flood with fuel and you couldn't get rid of it until it dispersed on its own

Someone hasn't jammed a potato up the exhaust for a laugh have they? (Rushes outside to check):)

Try starting it without the filler cap on too to make sure it's not vaccuum affected

after about 6 hours of pulling out what little hair i have left i had sussed out that the car runs okay with the air intake pipe disconnected from the engine,
i suspected the air filter blocked, it wasn,t. after another 2 hours of removing intercooler and turbo pipes to check for blockages still no further forward, the only thing left to check was the e.g.r valve and after giving it a gentle hit with my hammer i heard "DOING" started the stilo and its running fine. Removed the e.g.r valve to find loads and loads of S$*t built up on the inside stopping the valve working. running fine now but got the pre heater fault showing on the display? cheers fall all help. Interesting post on what happens if your EGR valve jams OPEN (y)

Do you get the "pre-heater" warning on every start as it can be erroneous?

Was the pre heat light/fault up before you fixed the EGR?

Pre-heater Fault Was Not On Before The Egr Fault But I Think I Have Prob Melted A Relay The Amount Of Times I Have Had The Ignition On And Off And Cranking It Over. Dazza110772.
