Dear All, it's been a while since I've posted on here as the Stilo had been going ok..........
I'd fixed the panoramic roof and it worked for a while then it tried to open all by itself when it was frozen it broke again. I have the parts to do yet another repair but I'm losing the will tbh.
Recently, the starter motor went so I replaced that with a good secondhand one and it sorted it......
About a week ago I had an engine management light come on the dash and remain there yet the car was driving and performing well. Then it cut out at a junction in my home village (luckily) and would not restart. The fault codes read, asr, esp failure, security system failure, loose connection. The starter motor was spinning, it just wouldn't fire up. Towed it home.
Checked and cleaned all engine bay connections.
Tried a different battery.
Checked ECU for bad solders or pins etc.
Swapped T08 relay.
Checked key sensor ring connection.
Tried different key and changed battery in key.
Changed alternator for supposed good secondhand one.
Now, when I try to start, I still get he same fault messages, car just clicks when I try to start it which will be the starter motor solenoid pushing the gear to mesh with flywheel, but not spinning and sometimes it doesn't click at all.
I'm wondering it my battery has gone, although when I connect to a charger it is fully charged again in a few minutes.
Could my starter motor have failed again as it was a secondhand one, or is my alternator a bad one?
Or is it the dreaded ECU??
I'm literally at my wits end with this car now and I'm very close to calling it a day as I've thrown a lot a time and money into it already and I'm losing the will to continue.
I'm tempted to scrap her and cut my losses?
Oh and I have a launch CRP123 vehicle diagnostic scanner which I have connected to her but it fails to connect with the ECU for some reason and gives a 'CAN' bus error so it's obviously not communicating with it or its not allowing it to?
Does anyone out there have a solution to this or is interested in taking the car off my hands then please let me know.
All the best,
Cali:bang:
