Hi

Just bought a 1.4 Stilo Active 16v only done just under 24000 miles since new (2004) it has had 3 services in this time but I cant see anything about the recall work been done. Would this be for free if it hasnt been done? It seems to be a bit of a bugger to start in the cold first thing but then starts first time everytime after is this anything to worry about?

After owning a 1.2 16v "bertie bravo" its quite a pleasure to drive, although I only had minor problems with the bravo and it was a joy to own. Hoping the stilo is has a reliability like my beloved bravo.

does the recall work cost? will it still be done even though the car is five years old?

Only if you don't mind being late for work all the time. It should fire straight up.

As you don't know the history of the car then I'd start afresh. See if there's any fault codes stored and make a note of them. Then clear any fault codes which will also reset the ecu which may well help your poor starting as it then relearns the best settings for the engine as it is now. If it still doesn't like the cold then I'd start checking out the engine temp sensor and then maybe the rpm sensor

Any guide for this? Also any way of getting rid of the service Icon if I take it to another non fiat garage or do it myself (servicing)

Best done with Examiner (any good Fiat specialist will have this).

I wouldn't make a habit of taking it to non-Fiat garages myself if I was you. There are implications for messing around with the Stilo's electronics :(
