i have a 1997 punto 144k head gasket and skimmed some time ago has always started well as long as no pedal otherwise floods. the other day it just lost power and had to be rescued home despite all the RAC tried the problem could not be sorted. on his advice i got another throttle body, new plugs and leads and even checked the timing belt, it turns over but does not fire, despite showing good spark and petrol delivery,(I checked that by taking off hose and turning ignition on/off). somebody sugested changing ECU next but another said they were key coded and that couldn't be problem, coulkd it be An ECU earth wherever that is? or Help please.
The advice i was given was to replace the TDC sensor which I have done but to no avail, I was thinking of giving it a pull to bump it is that advisable please.

I suspect the timing belt has slipped, this will not have damaged the engine; just remove the cam cover and check the alignment; use the marks on the flywheel (not the crank pulley) and cam sprocket.....
