Still dont understand what this problem is?

ey ppl.. iv been having this problem for ages and now i think its getting worse each day.. what happens is when i start my car the revs are proper high about 3000revs or mayb 2000revs sometimes can get up to 7000revs now the problem is whenever i start it.. it happens and then the revs wont go down till i drive abit once driving its still up making the revin noise.. after abit of driving the car is warm id come back home and leave it for a few mins and then its back to normal car running fine.. sometimes the car gives out nice power but all the other times its lost of power.. wondering what this can be as its getting to me now.. very anoyying pullin up at the traffic lights and people are thinking wrong because its revin.

whats the best thing i can do to solve this out? thank you people.

I'd say the best idea would be to take it for a diagnostic or get a mechanic to check it out... Someone may have a far better idea of what's up though...

He's got a 1.6, don't know if it's relevant but he was in a shunt a while back but not a particularly major one, needed radiator, new wings, bonnet and an air duct.

Is your accelerator not sticking by any chance.... dont start car flip the hood have a look at where cable meets throttle body see if theres any play or if it pops back when touched.... i am guessing here but thats what i would do to save money first.... Also maybe Throttle postion sensor?????? don't know just a guess really?? Unclip the lead from the sensor on throttlebody try cleaning pins if you can see if that helps. Otherwise as above a diag....

well as u sed mate the Throttle postion sensor? isit the one stuck to the engine.. the 2 black clips? i took one out n it startd revin like it does.. soo mayb its that is that the Throttle postion sensor?
