Hi I thought this might be of use...
I recently bought a 500 Pop.
The problem was the sticky gearshift - it needed to be pushed (with force) out of reverse and 5th gear!
The issue was corrosion on what should be a bright polished insert where the cable attaches to the gearbox. Having recently polished off the chrome on the headrests of the seats with the dremmel and some compound I did the same on the gear linkage. I then gave this a wipe of silicon grease and the gear shift now happily pops back into the natural position between 3 & 4th gears.
My mechanic said this is a frequent issue and has seen this on Punto too.
