feel a bit daft but here goes lol..

went to install my motorized screen stereo, somehow athough i'm not sure how, something around the ISO block sparked, blew the cars fuse, replaced it and the stereo wont work at all, the standard one is fine and working as usual.

the motorized screen stereo doesn't seem to have a fuse on the stereo itself, just 2 glass type fuses in the filter box, which are fine.

any ideas or is the stereo junk?

i've googled this and can't find an answer :(

cheers!

sounds like its popped a component inside the radio.. if theres no fuse there may be one inside. whip off a cover and have a look for any burnt or scorched components.
you may be lucky and its just burned out a track that can be easy bridged with solder or wire.

not got much to loose, so worth a try.
i want a flip down 7 inch screen radio, but they just dont exist anywhere.

sonme radios have a diode in them (like a one way valve) where if the radio is cross poled it will cause a dead short and blow the fuse. often they are referred to as "dummy diodes"

if the radio was already plugged in and working then like i said, a track on the PCB or an internal fuse/component has popped.

there is people out there that can repair electronics, but its just finding them as now everything is throw away.

Loads of flip down radio's on ebay.

try to find one, they all flip up.
the only 2 i have found do not have motorised fold away screens :(

brilliant cheers, i'll take a look myself, if i can't do anything there's an electrical engineer at work who accepts payment in beer :p

Have you checked the fuse on the back of the radio? Did the spark come from a power wire coming loose hence why there is no power?
Do you realise after a power interupt you have to use the power button for the radio to come on?

What head unit is it?
If it sparked then there is a short in the power of it. That short will still be present and is most likely the cause of the issue.
