i dont know if its just my car or a bravo thing lol so thought id share with yous my strange query.

if im sat in my car listening to the stereo (with subs in) for say longer than 10 mins,i find it hard starting the car.It turns over but wont start.. So then i have to leave the car off for a bit then restart it.
Happened to me whilst i was at a mates testing my amp,i felt an idiot as my car didnt start and my car has never failed to start.

i have since installed an inline switch (in the remote wire) so i can switch the amp off and listen to the stereo without problems and still start the car as normal.

Bear in mind i have a Brand new Bosch blue top that is 2 month old.

Has this happened to anyone else?

never had this problem myself... but then i had a big old diesel battery bolted onto mine and never run the amps without the engine running, could just be that the amp's draining too much power to start the car, but then when you start it without them running it's starting without the amps running and draining the power :)

That is really strange... if you fit that switch, power cuts off, and it shouldnt drain the battery. Maybe there is short connection somewhere...

why dont you connect that remote wire straight to the stereo? would be easier..

i been thinking that, when the sub is off it starst normal so could be the amp draining the battery..Unsure wetehr to get a brand new alternator (but they do cost lol)

yer thats basically what im doin,it starts normal with the switch/amp off.

like i said in my post,if im sat listening to the stereo with ignition on(amp on ) then it fails to start,Hence me puttin a switch in ;)

not really all that bothered tbh,was just wondering if this happens to anyone else, as you only have 1 click for ignition

Mike

Can i just ask?
What stereo is it?
Original or aftermarket?

If aftermarket doesnt the stereo have an "amp off" function?

like i said before mike rewire stereo so you dont have ignition on and you shouldnt have a problem i dont.
with ignition on your running the coils which uses extremely large amounts of battery power all the time
the inline switch will be fine and wont affect it at all

@ Ant, it is aftermarket its a sony usb.It doesnt have an option to switch the amp off,it only has a volume for the sub out.

@ Andy, yes i tried that the other week when you said on my other post. But for some reason couldnt get stereo to come on at all.I put red->red,yellow->yellow and nothing. I tried red and yellow together -> red, still nothing. Stereo will only come on if red->yellow and yellow->red and ignition is on.
All this was done with the ignition off (testing for perm live) and obviously with the ignition on

did you test the loom on the car for a permanent power supply with ignition off this is normally used for the memory on the stereo so its this wire you need to run both red & yellow wires from the stereo to
i think its the yellow on the car loom ??
but not 100% sure this is the only way to have your stereo on without ignition

mike

try gettin a power cap mate, they are made to not drain ya battery, when the base kicks in it takes power from the power cap then the power cap slowley takes some from the battery,

use a heavy duty battery, and get your alternator tested

@ Andy, yer i know how you mean i think i tested that aswell tbh,red+yellow-yellow and wouldnt come on.It would come on if ign was on but problem there was had no memory lol

@ Ant, ive always thought about getting one but in my whole 10 years of derivin,i never bothered with one as never had any problems before..oh and i have a decent battery, the Bosch blue top lol :)

i think i need a new alternator,as i dont know how old mine is.

What model is it mate?

Im sure they should all have an off "switch"

CDX-GT610U thats it..its only got sub volume like i say.

Im gona have a mess with the loom tomorrow and see if i can get it to work on a perm basis so that it comes on regardless of ignition beiong on.

saying that tho, still doesnt answer my query as to why my car wont start if im sat listening to stereo with subs on.. In my 306td i could sit there for a good half hour and it would fire up straight away,no messin lol

i answered your question before leaving the ignition on leaves the coil pack live all the time generating high energy for the spark to work even if the engine isnt running so will drain the battery

i've had my bravo goin for 3 hours before 2 raptors boomin an still started fine :D

sorry andy,my bad.Dont know whay i put that.
I think the reason why its not happening is cus of the autoleads i have? Ill have to have a play with it and see what i can do.Surely one of the wires are crossed and stopping it from coming on.

i think i may have swapped the yellow and red wires around on my autoleads lead but dont quote me on that use a circuit tester and find the positive and then trace the wire to the stereo and see where it goes ??

Right,i been out for a good hour and half messing with it (as wanted 2 locate the switch elsewhere)...I ended up finding out that the red and yellow wires coming off the stereo had to be connected together to the Red wire on the autoleads plug.seen as theyre both bullet connectors i had to bridge a piece of wire round both red+yellow bullets (taped up)in order for the red bullet on the stereo to fit inside the red bullet from the plug..jobs a good 'un...so i thought.
The steering wheel controls then wouldnt work :(

i even tried with the ignition being on for the steering wheel controls, but yet still no luck as memory wire on the autoleads plug wasnt connected to anything. What i did notice tho was the red positive wire coming off the control box for the stalk connector was connected inline with the yellow memory wire on the autoleads plug..

So in the end,i thought sod it.Il leave it as it is lol
