hello everyone - coming to the end of my 500F restoration (it's only taken 10+ years) so getting a bit excited. When I bought the car it had an after market steering wheel fitted which I don't like. Have purchased via eBay a 500L wheel (black with two black spokes across) but it doesn't fit!! The milling (if that's the right technical term) on the replacement wheel is much smaller so won't slide onto the steering rack column. Also the electrical contacts for horn etc are different. Anyone come across this/ have any suggestions?

Yes I had exactly the same problem, my wheel was split, so years ago bought a replacement with the slots in the spokes.

Did not fit so ended up mending thr old one with epoxy.

Does your steering column, ignition switch look like this?

Mine is a late 500L.

Not too sure but can a L wheel fit on a F?

thanks HA - yes it does. Wondering if I can replace the steering column spline, but I suspect it's more involved than that.

There are two different splined types
Changing one for another is dead easy

thanks Andrew - can you give more info? is the replacement spline available/what about the horn push & indicator connections?
many thanks
