I have a noise when turning the steering wheel. What could it be? Steering sensor, bad strut bearings...?
I never had problems with steering light in dashboard. Everything runs fine, except this noise.

I have made a video, it's on youtube. Because i don't have 5 post on this forum, i can't put the link here.
You can find my video on youtube, searching "Fiat Grande Punto - Zgomot volan / Steering wheel noise"

Thank you!

Yes, i'ts only at slow speed. I have no vibrations on steering wheel, only this noise. And it doesn't hear all the time. When it's in "mood".
Today I put my hands on the top mounts when a friend turning the steering wheel. I felt some vibrations on the top mounts, more on the right side. But I don't know if it's normal or how should feel when are gone.

Please let me know what you resolve at the garage.
I will be very grateful.

Thanks

I have done some searching before posting and i know they are a common fault. I have my car only since October 2013. I was (still am) worry for that sensor from steering column, i know that it's also a common GP failure. Mine is made in 11/10/2006 if it's matter.

Today, about 10 AM, the noise has started again even worse in all position i turned the wheel. Even at a short right or left movement and continuous; so i went to a local service. When I got there....what do you think? The noise was gone. Only when i was prepared to leave, the noise appeared only once. The mecanic said that this sound is more likely from the steering box, but he cannot be sure. It can also be from the top mounts. So, next week I will take the car to service for a detailed steering box check.

This is the noise comming from the steering wheel.

So yeh. I'm not just posting just to boast that my noise is worse than yours. Mine was diagnosed as the steering pinion being dry and wearing itself down. I had a specialist garage attempt a fix by taking it apart and lubricarting it all. This fixed it for about 2 weeks. My car is now going into that same specialist on Monday to have a new steering rack fitted. It would cost in the region of £600 all together. Thank god I paid for the extended warranty when I purchased the car.

Had this on my GP turns out it was the left hand front Side suspension coil had snapped at the top!

Hi

Sounds identical to the noise we hear when the torque sensor starts to fail, as you get the noise when the steering wheel is held still at a certain point, the torque sensor is starting to fail and will eventually bring on your power steering failure light.
