HI all, I am currently working on a 74 fiat spider 124 and using a 73 fiat spider 124 as a parts car. The 74 wiring loom and ignition switch housing was absolutely mutilated so I was planning on transferring the wiring from the 73 (already done) to the 74 and also the steering column so I could have an ignition switch in an un mutilated housing. The 74 has a different steering column attachment and also shaft size. My question to you all is would one be able to take the shaft from one and install it into the good column so that it will bolt up in a 74. I didn't realize the shaft sizes were different when I started in on this little project. thanks in advance

Looking at steering column/steering box parts available from some of the parts suppliers in the U.S., (e.g. Autoricambi, Midwest-Bayless etc.) they mention there being 2 types i.e. '68-'72 and then '73-'78 (plus a steering rack instead of a steering box from '85? on). Your '73 car may have been produced in late '72, and therefore would not compatible with the '74 car.

Yeah I figur d as much. Went ahead and purchased a used set up. Was hoping to recycle and reuse.
