Stearing wheel buttons not activating call or voice

Yesterday was the first day with my new fiat 500 and all was fine.

Then I got in it in the evening and the activate voice button, main button and scroll buttons have stopped working.

When I get a text it will recognise my voice to read it out, but I can't activate the voice control by pressing the button.

Also when I press the main button, nothing happens so can't call out or bring up the phone book.

When I have a USB key in, it plays the music, but the scroll buttons don't skip forward and backward.

All these function were working fine, earlier in the day.

The scroll buttons work on the radio but not on the USB.

Any ideas?

Fiat say they need to book it in to have a technician look at it.

So annoying when it's the very first day!

it needs resetting,either disconnect the battery for 10-15 mins or take it to your dealer,its locked up.its totally random and they don't know what causes it yet ( i believe).
Happened to me last month,dealer did mine .

I was just about to post about the very same issue. You've described it perfectly. It's been working fine for the last 10.5 months, and randomly locked up this evening. Its very annoying!

Grrrr. I refuse to take it to the local dealer though, but I dont think I can wait 6 weeks until it gets its service at the garage I bought him from. Might be time to give Griffin Mill a try!

Let us know how you get on. I'd be interested to know how involved the fix is.

Well I dropped it off at the dealer this morning, asked if I could wait, but they said I hadn't booked it in for a 'while you wait' (I didn't know you could and they hadn't offered! ), so went home.

An hour later received the call to say the car was ready.

Couldn't speak to the people who did the work (just the front desk) and the only thing it says on the £0 invoice is 'Carried out system reset'.

So I'm afraid I can't enlighten you as to what they did. But it works fine now.

I think if it happens again, I'll go on a hunt for the Blue&Me fuse, it must be somewhere and would be better than disconnecting the battery (simply because you wouldn't have to reenter the code on the radio).

I'm surprised there isn't just a reset button/option.

It being a Windows system, I looked but couldn't find the Ctrl, Alt, Del keys!

i watched them through a window plug in a red "machine" whilst i waited,took ten minutes.
Musta been like a windows computer reboot.

I need a control/alt/delete too! For some reason my B&M voice command button isn't working. She just says 'no message' whenever I press it. Other things seem to working okay though. This just happened tonight, a few hours ago, after five days of it working fine. I'm hoping it will be magically be better in the morning.

I tried to book mine in locally, but got hung up on! So I'm going to wait a few weeks and get it fixed when its in for its service. I know theres a B&M update anyway, so hopefully it will get that at the same time.
