so after many discussions with dan (d.knight on the forum), to and fro over measurements, etc, i got the decals through, and despite the weather, decided to get them on today:

the offside has straighter panels than the other:

so looks a lot better than the nearside:

best efforts to straighten out the sill, but it's never going to be perfect, but i think it works well, and does the job.

he also sent some leftovers to get the bit that was really annoying me, the b-pillars, now back to trademark black:

what's left? well to seal those leading and trailing edges in, the arch covers need to go on, as do the sill covers, and since the pillar has it's vinyl on, i'm debating wether to tint the rear and back windows to match.

Looking really good Jai!!

I can’t wait till Oulton Park!!

I’d say don’t tint the rear, but if you’re going to, don’t go too dark.

If you go too dark, you may as well de-lock all round and lower the number plate and remove the rear wiper :( :p

 If you really want to be noticed I have some Base Uno glass. It’s so clear everyone will be able to see you, and you’ll get arc eye off any other car at night .

 nooooooooooooooo, btw, she has been delocked on 2 of 3 doors.....just that last one left, and i really like the look, very clean.

i was thinking at best a medium tint, just to fill it in from the pillar back, nothing on the fronts, there seem to be a lot of sellers on ebay for teh film, might even give it a go myself, the rears do pop out easy enough, just the hatch is a bit tricky.

:yeahthat:

Louie speaks a lot of sense!

Your glass is already lightly tinted from the factory Jai. Tinting the rears only makes a car look unbalanced from an aesthetic point of view. Plus every other Saxo/ Corsa/ Clio has blacked out the rears and it now looks more 'Chav' than 'Class' I'm afraid.

Blacked out 'B' pillars look (y) I reckon blacked out 'B' and 'C' pillars on my five door will also look  Got any spare vinyl? ;)

Looking good jai!

I still have some mk2 sill trim decals from the same bloke

Are you sure..........that.........you........wouldnt.......consider some......alfa romeo 33 wheels on it? lol :yum:

:yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum:(y)

still trying it on :ROFLMAO: btw: what happened to the TC?

lol yeah no harm! :yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum:
I just think they'd suite the shape of the mk1 better

Havent got a scooby doo! (n)

I got some bloke intrested in some mk1 wheels but i cant get in contact with him! :bang:

Nice one Jai!

Good to see a Turbo being used in anger.
When I take mine to the track, I'm just about the slowest car/most useless driver there. Trust you didn't suffer the same indignation!

Was it Mrs. Jai on camera? Those are great shots. It's much harder than it seems to take photos of moving targets.

I want a set of those decals, so I'll come and judge yours before I buy ;)

Think 5th pic down is me in the picture :) - I'm should be in the passenger seat as you didn't go out alone with the tipo wheels on did you Jai?

Jai certainly didn’t suffer after the ice had lifted  was a top day out.

Bit off topic but what you doing in the Premier Inn Portishead Alex? Emma, Rosie and I stayed there last may. Didn’t rate the pub next door, but the Watrose fuel station had the cheapest fuel I seen in the country at the time. Do you only come to England when there is ice around :p

LOL - yes, I wait till it's down to 3 degrees before I make the flight over here. I really want to shiver after the last two weeks in Johannesburg, where it was rarely under 30 degrees.

Premier Inn Portishead is a good choice when both Premier Inns in Bristol are fully-booked (and one messed up the reservation), and anyway it's far better to stay here on the outskirts - had a nice drive to Clevedon this afternoon for a sight-see, I didn't realise how 'country' it was here. It's basically Somerset, isn't it :) The Old Inn in Clevedon was a better bet for lunch than the 'pub next door', which as you say is a bit variable - good yesterday, not so good this evening!

This is completely hijacking the thread isn't it... Jai feel free to delete :D

Let's get back on topic... ummm... I drove past Castle Combe on the way to Bristol (M4), which I know from Top Gear fame (the Supercar challenge; can the Merak, the Dino, and the Urraco beat the diesel Astra time set by the Stig...)

So has anyone driven their Uno on Castle Combe...?

i havent driven an uno at coumbe, but it was a barrel of laughs in the seicento.
if you have sorted suspension the corner after avon rise (quarry?) is ridiculous (it was straight lary @ 90 in the sei :slayer:)

jai : how did the 15s comapre to the 13s?
notice much difference?
what tyres were on each?
matt
p.s. great pics

ahhhh, the 15s....huge problem, the offset is all wrong, 42, standard on the 13s is 38, plus has a taller tyre on in - 195/50/15, so was getting rub on the edge of the tyre, really bad and noisy, but....was only happening on the nearside front on right handers. leading me to think perhaps all is not well with the suspension on that corner. solution? a set of koni shocks and 40 mill dampers i have waiting in the garage. if that only partially cures it, i have another set of 15s running 195/45/15 with the correct offset that will be well inside the arch, as it was on the red tub. a more radical solution would be to have the 15s hub face machined down by 3-4 mm so will move to the correct offset, that's a bit extreme, and will explore other ideas first, as it's a no way back type of deal.

the tipos alloys (15x6) had toyo proxes t1r on 195/50/15
the uno alloys (13/5.5) had nexen 2000s 170/60/13
the spare 15" set - team dynamic vulcans (15/6.5) - bf goodrich 195/45/15

as for the 13s, they were great, really hung on hard, turned in with some bite, and only when i got a bit silly, heavy acceleration on a corner, did they start to scrabble a bit. but overall really felt good. can't wait for another crack at it, with a set of 15s and 13s back to back, on the road the 15s make a quite skittish car feel so much more planted
