does anybody know what the clutch slave cylinder has to do with starting the car, cus thats what fiat said my problem is??

It will mean that when U start your car, the car will go forward / backward depends on the gear U are in.
It doesent disconnect the clutch all the way.

It doesent have any other effect on the starting of the car

ok, my problem was that none of the keys were being accepted, took it to fiat and that is what they came up with??

If the keys are not accepted, it will be a ECU problem - I think :(

oh S******t, that would be my worst problem, just hope its not that

both blue and the red key wont work, fiat ran a diagnostic test and said its the clutch slave cylinder thats causeing the problem

Fiat (As in most cases) are talking out of thier @rses ;)

The slave cylinder is connected to the clutch and the brakes, not to the cars electrical system.

Re; Starting problem

The entire scenario sounds weird to me. If Fiat ran a diagnostic then surely the ECU must be OK?
BUT, not accepting either key makes me think it isn't.
Best bet is to get in touch with Tom (a stalwart of this site!)
I've not seen one single question that Tom hasn't given excellent advice on. If he doesn't know then you really are in stuc!
Hope you get it sorted.

Re: Re; Starting problem

Does the code light come on and go out when you turn the key?

Re: Re; Starting problem

right, been on to fiat, they got the cars mixed up. after sum talkin with them they finally tell me that they have not looked at the car yet(anohter day wasted).
when driving home other day the code light came on, then went off, came back on again, then off u get the picture.

Ok what happens is
1. tried all keys and it will not start,
2. code light stays on
