Technical Starter motor problems

I have a 1987 Fiat Uno which I can't start.
When I turn the key I can hear a click presumably the solenoid but the starter motor won't turn. I've charged battery so I think I need to change the starter motor. How do I go about this, any tips ?

Have you tried tapping the starter motor with something in case it’s jammed? I take it you’re just getting a single click each time as apposed to a constant clicking?

Yes I gave it a firm tap but it didn't help, just getting the one click
