I'd agree.

You don't need an IBS just to measure voltage.

There's some technology in there and quite likely some computation of measured parameters over time; it would be most interesting to know exactly what is monitored and how that data is processed, but FIAT don't seem to release that sort of information.

A great shame, because if they made that kind of stuff open source, the user community would likely come up with some great enhancements and most of the software related issues would be fixed by now.

Just look how much more you can do with Android than Apple.
 
A while ago I had the loan of a newish BMW for a weekend (long story) and it had s/s. Drove me crazy even though it does start promptly- after that experience I would not buy a car with s/s.
 
Holding a car in gear (clutch in) while stopped causes the pressure plate springs to loose tension.
