Hello i have a Fiat Tipo 1.6 GDT SX H Reg.

The car turns over but won`t start, battery is fine, and the car jumps off fine no problems, had the starter motor off and all the teeth seem fine, given it a little tap ot two but still wont go.

Any ideas please?

New Starter motor?

I have no way of actually testing the starter motor on its own.

right m8 other than drive cars im not much use with them, can you explain what you mean but possibly simplify it for me lol

Thanks

a gdt is it a diesel if so i think there was a solanoid on the pump that has to have 12 volt to it any less it will not open the pump and wont start but given a jump start most times will .hope this helps(y)

right well if you have a multi meter oyu can check power to the starter though i doubt you do?
well you can check the wire(big thick power cable)that goes to the starter to check for brakes or run a wire from the battery positive and touch the connection to see if the starter does anything

Cant do anything till 2moro now m8, thanks, i`ll post back 2moro evenin.

Cheers.

By the way if nothing happens, is it buggered(so to speak)

to test it you could just put it in first and turn the key. if the car moves the starter works . shouldn't do this very far though!
look at the electrical system next. check for a spark by holding the spark plug lead against the engine block (best to just rest it on it and keep your hands well away 14,000 volts is enough to kill i'd imagine(not entirely sure on that figure but i think i read it somewhere) if there is no spark comment back on here

check if youre getting the 12 V impulse on the starter motor ( the thin cable connected to the starter ).
