Right start again

here are my plans, cams and uni chip....

i know its a Dansk unichip you **** takers :) i ment what model, as i remember some one (i think danz) saying that there are different models, as he said in the other thread...

so...

1)to run my cams, airfliter and exhaust efficiently which unichip (which model) is best, or which will do?

2)can they be reprogrammed? i know they can be tweaked but can one be reprogrammed from a turbo volkswagen to a N/a fiat (mine)

3)i am planning to hunt down some stilo abarth cams, i read on the coupe form that they are more lumpy then the standard ones? any one know this for certain?

Cheers all for your time again!

DASTEK ;)

They only make 1 product but it has been revised over the years. The newer ones are gray and green sorta circuit board stylee on the front.

They can be programmed to fit any car (within reason ;)), you just need to find your local dastek dealer to install and program it up for you.

Only Fiat will know about the styless cams, do they even fit the HGT engine? You'd also need to know the amount of advance the VVC gives on the HGT and the styless. Why not just bite the bullet and shell out for some C&B HGT fast road cams, you will know for sure they will work.

ok then i will! LOL....

do you know how much thery are and where i can sorce them?

so even the red DASTEK ;) can be reprogrammed to work for my car?

are they totally reprogrammmable, so one of a vw can fit mine??

Cheers for you help (again)

Paul R

They are not car specific. New one will set you back £450 with fitting and tuning.

cool, so i get a second hand one and get it tuned....

now to sort out some cams! :)

what bhp would you expect?

BMC CDA
Powerflow
supersprint de-cat
dastek
cams?

With cams, 180 maybe. Hard to say as the Mk2 HGT has all that variable timing gubbins.

Dasteks are not the only option ;)

I have heard that the mk1 gets better gains than the mk2, but never seen any proof...

Daz

For some reason I thought it was a Mk2.

Mk1 doesn't have the variable inlet or timing of the Mk2 which makes tuning a bit easier.

:) finally some good news! :)

@daz, where did you get yo0ur cams?

Paul R

Mine were just lying around in the garage where i got my engine done, they were ordered for a coupe, but the guy never came back to get them fitted...

As far as we could find out they were Abarth cams, but i have looked and looked for any info on it, but never found any...

Daz

on your search did you find out who can supply cams for the HGT?

PAul R

The only refence i think i found was on some guys old website, which were C&B cams, i have lost the link now, but he did say they had to be custom made and were around the £600 mark.

Daz

£600! :( i think i wil give cams a miss if they will cost that much :( ohhhhh, i had just decided on what i was going to do...********!

PAul R

agreed, but still! £600 is up there! plus rolling roading etc, it would probably be cheaper to fiat a coupe lump at this rate! :(

Paul R

Probably. But coupe conversions are so common now, do you want to be one of the flock? ;)

i swear i just replied to this....

i was going to fit a jtd, but i would need an enitre car, and fuel lines etc etc all need replacing, seemed a bit of a mission, the coupe would be easyier and can have loads more power then the jtd!
