hi, is it safe to have 1 standard wheel nut on every alloy?. garage did it as i lost the locking nut, and replaced every wheel with 1 standard nut.
they said it's fine, but i am a bit worried lol
I say it isn't and I have been in the motor trade since the mid 70's and run a motorists centre (repairs, tyres, exhausts etc).
Take your pick whose advice you take but is it really worth chancing when wheel nuts are not that expensive. I have seen steel wheel nuts that had 'eaten' their way right through an alloy wheel until the wheel came adrift.
As you only have one steel wheel nut on each wheel that shouldn't happen but I say is it worth chancing ruining your wheels for the sake of a few quid?
