Miss to replace the exhaust twice now in 5 years on my 57 plate bravo active and sounding like it could be 3 times pretty soon..I'm thinking about a stainless steel exhaust..anybody any ideas how much I'm looking at??

The only SS Exhaust I have had fitted was a "Longlife", all custom built and installed in about 2 hours.

Longlife have many authorised installers around the country. I don't know if they operate individual prices (by dealer) or standard pricing.

I suggest you find dealers in your area (allow a 50 to 100 mile radius) and start phoning.

My experience of Longlife is that they give choice of tail pipe designs etc. all within the basic price and they/the fitter will discuss and advise on box choices etc. This means that in general a fast/performance & noisy setup will cost the same as a medium performance/noise and even down to OEM near silent (but still free flow compared to many OEM).

Longlife are not the only suppliers out there so you really need to do you own homework.

I know I'm hi-jacking this guys thread but that sounds awesome. How much did you pay for yours and what set up did you have?

CAT Back system. Lifetime guarantee. £300 including VAT.

IMPORTANT NOTE! custom made stainless exhausts are basically Lego systems made from a large selection of 'standard' piece parts. i.e. various boxes, tail pipes, raw tubing etc.

This means that any replacement system is technically not an OEM equivalent replacement. However this does not stop you asking for a near OEM equivalent and if you do this then you can/should have this documented on your receipt for insurance purposes.

Nothing wrong with Supersprint, (had one some years ago on another Fiat but much prefer the original ANSA systems :) ), HOWEVER they (to my knowledge) do not do Stainless systems.

Also, Longlife have an excellent reputation so whilst I used the word "Lego" I was propably being a little unfair in the analogy.

Unless you have actually had experience of Longlife systems/service etc. then you might be being a little unfair to a well respected brand.

i have poor experience of Longlife and Powerflow. pigeon **** welding on both, undersized centre pipe on longlife, failed bracket on powerflow. stainless steel they use is the weldable ferritic stainless 400 series that surface corrodes.

Supersprint do both carbon steel and stainless steel systems (y)

Longlife (these days) only use T304 stainless. Also the welding on my system is excellent done with a huge TIG welder.

Clearly welding is a skill. I have a pro Ceboro MIG welder and some experience of welding. I can't fault the welding our fitter did.

No doubt there are some poor welders/fitters out there. Thankfully I didn't get one :)
