Hi,

I've searched the forums to try and find a solution,

My rear drivers wheel has recently started to squeel intermittently when I'm driving.
If I turn the radio off and open the window its really loud and noticeable to passers by.

I've took the wheel off and checked for any dust or rubbing parts but cant seem to see anything.

It only seems to be when going in a straight line, and if I pull the handbrake up, however gently, it seems to stop the squeeling.

Any ideas?

Thanks

What model? If it has rear drums almost certainly the shoes rubbing.
You answered the question yourself when you stated the noise goes when you apply the handbrake!

Its 1.4 16V Sporting, 06 plate,

Its due its MOT this month too, I imagine its cheaper to remedy myself rather than getting it done with the MOT?

If it has rear discs i would take a look myself, i replaced my front and rear discs and pads with no prior mechanical experience. Could just be the pads sticking when used so i'c check pad thickness, see if you have a lip on the discs and clean an lubricate the brake cable mech if necessary.(y)
