Hi Guys (and gals),

I've noticed a funny squeek from the front right wheel area, only when I turn the steering wheel to around 45 degrees though. Almost sounds like something is rubbing. The space between squeeks decrease as I accelerate.

Any thoughts before I get Fiat to take a gander?

Matt.

Age and milage of car? Its probably the CV joint but ignore it until it starts clunking. :)

Re: Re: Squeeking

Bravo 1.6 HLX (Y)2000, with just over 20k on the clock.

Still under warrenty from the dealer so I can always take it back.

Re: Re: Re: Squeeking

Might as well get it fixed then! :) A CV should last 70-80k though. Could always be the brake hose has come off its clip and is rubbing the tyre.

Hi Tom,

Is it worth taking the wheel off just to check its not the brake hose before I book it in?

Got to get them to have a look at the old gear box too, makes a lovely crunching sound (like the clutch isn't in) when changing up into 3rd.

Syncromesh perhaps?

Cheers,

Matt.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Squeeking

Would be worth having a quick peek just in case.

Does it crunch just 3rd or all of them? Are the rest of the gears easy to get into?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Squeeking

Yup every time and only when going into 3rd, its worse if I change quickly into 3rd.

All the other gears are alright, just 3rd thats a pain.

Matt.

Strange! It will certainly be a box in bits job!

You usually expect the bauk rings on 1st and 2nd to go first as they get the most abuse.

Thanks ever so much Tom :)

Definately a back to the dealer job then, as much as I love taking things apart ;)

Will have a look to at that wheel later though and let you know what I find.

Matt.
