squeek squeek squeek squeek arrghhhhhhhhhhh

After driving a couple of miles from cold, a squeek squeek noise developes gradually on my left front wheel of my '96 1.6. It turns out that whenever I turn the steering wheel or press on the brakes the squeek goes.

Could it be the brake pads are incorrectly installed or is it a driveshaft?

have a check at the pads, same problem with mine a while ago after the garage fitted cheap pads

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I will have it checked. As for that anonymous guy who tried to stab FIAT in the back...thanks for your input as well. I just cant understand what the shoddy build quality has got to with my cause.

Let me tell you this mate: My Bravo is the oldest Bravo on this Forum, and at the age of six years and after alomst 70K miles on the rough and traffic clogged roads of Malta this has got to be the ultimate test for one of the most reliable cars in its budget bracket. I keep comparing my little Fiat with my mates' golf, megane, crx del sol etc and I keep thanking God for the purchase that I did 6 years ago.

mine is 7 years old and has had to put up with the shoddy backroads of scotland for 73k!

I do like Fiats.

I've owned them since 1993.

So much for unreliable Fiats. Mine is 6 years old, 74k on the clock, never broken down and the only major things have been the exhaust rusting and the usual 1.6 flakey injectors.

how can you say fiats are any less reliable than any other make? There all machines, they all wear out. ok the designers may get it wrong and create a weak point, ie the wiring on early brava/o's, but look how many recalls ford have on their cars. Explorers where the throttle sticks on, focus's that die when driving at constant speed. If ford can't get it right with their budget who can?

Plus theres the lex car survey where fiat came 3rd most reliable.

I've had 2 fiats with no out of place problems. My dad has a £35k merc where the £2k computer went wrong after a month. I don't think their is much difference between makes reliability these days due to modern manufacturing techniques and i don't think highlighting individual cases proves anything.

140,000 mile on a p plate and still going strong

my bravo hasd now done 140,000 mile and the only things that have gone wrong with it are:

the cat which went a couple of weeks ago and it passed the mot with out. co2 0.25 and HC i was told was 5 below the limit.

the exshaust went now have a power flow

and yesterday i found 3 cracks in the mainifold not sure wether to go for a sport or original any ideas?

oh and the lamba sensor which i now have aan universal.

thats all apart from oil, filters, tyres and brakes

not bad for 140,000 mile and the steering wheel and gear nob still have the pattern on.
